Which file formats are supported?
Documents and text
.pdf, .docx (Word), .txt, .md (Markdown), .html and .htm.
Tables and data
.xlsx and .xls (Excel), .csv, .json, .log.
Images
.png, .jpg and .jpeg, .webp, .gif. Useful for a photo of a whiteboard, a screenshot of a conversation, or a notebook page.
Archives
.zip. The archive is opened and its contents processed file by file, which is the fastest way to upload a whole folder.
If your format is not listed
Two options, in this order:
- Convert to PDF. It is the best-covered format, and almost every tool can export to it.
- Paste the content directly. For a short text, opening a note and pasting is faster than converting.
Didn't work?
- The file was accepted but nothing came out. The format was fine, the material was silent. See What should I import.
- A scanned PDF produces nothing. A PDF made of page images contains no readable text. Run it through optical character recognition before uploading.
- The ZIP was accepted but only partly processed. The files inside follow the same format rules as any other: unsupported extensions are skipped.
FAQ
Can I import several files at once?
Yes. Multiple selection is available on upload, and a ZIP archive lets you send a whole folder in one go.
Is there a size limit?
Very large files take longer to process, but the practical limit is processing time rather than a published cap. For a very large document, splitting it into several files gives a more readable result at review time.
Are images really read?
Yes, their text content is extracted. Quality depends on how legible the image is: a sharp photo of a whiteboard works, a blurry one from across the room much less so.
