Conversation

Ask your memory a question, or drop something into it, from the same input box.

Verbasil's home screen is a conversation. The same input box does two things: ask your memory a question, and drop in what you want to keep. Verbasil works out which one you are doing.

Ask a question

  1. Click New conversation.
  2. Ask your question as you would ask a colleague: "Why did we stop selling to schools?", "What did we promise this client?".

The answer cites its sources: a cited decision opens in one click, a pattern shows how many mentions it has. Under an answer, you can Copy it, ask for it Shorter, turn it into a Write-up, or Turn into a decision.

Search the Internet too

Turn on Web before sending. Only your question goes to the search engine, never the content of your memory. A useful result can be kept: it becomes a document.

Drop something in

  1. Paste the text, or drag the file into the input box.
  2. Send it.

Text you type yourself integrates on its own; a file goes through a review. Details in First import.

If Verbasil can't tell a question from a deposit, it asks: "Should I answer, or keep this in memory?". To keep one of your questions in memory afterwards, use Also keep in memory.

From any screen

At the bottom of the other screens, Ask or add… opens the same conversation in a panel, without leaving the page. Shortcut: ⌘J.
